SUSTAINABILITY
We believe that sustainable fashion means producing garments with consideration of the environmental and social impact they have throughout the total life cycle. We consider ourselves a ‘slow’ fashion brand as we promote a slower fashion cycle and approach collections with this consideration at our core. We take the necessary steps we can to minimise our detrimental impacts. Our emphasis is always on producing high quality garments, ethically, that are designed to last. These are some of steps we are taking:
ENVIRONMENT
We are committed to using only 100% natural fibres. Currently we only use 100% silk and 100% lyocell. Natural fibres will biodegrade faster than synthetic fibres and won’t release harmful chemicals when breaking down. Our lyocell is from Tencel® and so is made with wood pulp from sustainable tree farms in an award-winning closed-loop process that recovers or decomposes all solvents and emissions.
All of our garments are produced in the UK. Predominantly our items are produced with our seamstresses in Glasgow (where we are based) but we also do small batch production with our trusted London atelier. All our garment labels and care labels are also woven in the UK.
Our packaging is made from recycled card and paper made from sustainable forests. Our tissue paper is made from 99% recycled pulp fibres.
WASTE
We do what we can to reduce waste by only producing what we need working to a made to order model. By only producing according to demand we reduce waste by a great deal and don’t have endless amounts of stock lying unused.
We design in Edits - highly edited small collections. This allows us to keep things lean and season-less. We learn from customer demand and adapt new Edits according to feedback. This approach allows us to minimise waste, the idea being that collections don’t become obsolete.
We use leftover fabric from our garment production to produce our luxury silk accessories.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
We take social responsibility as a business very seriously and care deeply about the lives of all those that are involved at every stage of the garment life cycle. Producing all our garments in the UK allows us to visit our makers on a regular basis and meet and get to know the people that produce our clothes.
We always ensure that everyone we work with is paid fairly. We do not endorse unpaid internships.
We are always striving to do better and for more transparency, where questions still remain unanswered in our supply chain we are working to improve this.
